Nightingale Helps Local Charity Build Affordable Homes

08/30/2018

In keeping with Nightingale’s principle of purpose before profit, it has made a substantial donation to the local Habitat for Humanity to build affordable homes in the Greater Toronto Area. Proceeds from furniture Habitat for Humanity sells in their Re:Stores go to helping local families break the cycle of poverty by giving them a place to live and flourish. Re:Stores also benefit the environment by reusing and re-selling overstocked products. This fits perfectly with Nightingale’s Landfill Sucks policy of zero waste. Nightingale is proud to work with Habitat for Humanity to give people a hand up rather than a hand out. For more information on Nightingale’s initiatives, please contact Meg Desmond, Nightingale’s PR rep, at mdesmond@nightingalechairs.com.

About Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Since 1985, local branches have helped build and rehabilitate safe, decent, and affordable homes for low-income families. Affordable homeownership allows families to build a better life by fostering the skills and confidence they need to invest in themselves and their communities. Because Habitat families rely less on social housing and food banks, gain better health, education, and employment outcomes, every Habitat home built helps create $175,000 worth of benefits for the local community.
